The LightHouse Fund was created in June 2013 as a beacon of hope for uninsured or underinsured women and children who live on the western slope of El Dorado County, to help with medical, hearing, mental-health, dental or optical assistance. The Fund was established by a Women’s Fund El Dorado member in memory of a loved one.
Since its creation in 2013, the LightHouse Fund has awarded more than $76,000 to 206 individuals in our community. This program is growing every day and provides a tangible and immediate impact in our community.
The Lighthouse Fund provides up to $500 of financial assistance annually to uninsured or underinsured women and children for medical, hearing, mental health, dental and optical needs.
Individuals share their need with a medical provider or with an El Dorado County western slope nonprofit agency (such as a school, church, or community organization). The provider or agency submits an application for assistance on behalf of the woman or child.
The application is available on this website, and it may be filled out online and emailed. The application may also be printed and mailed. An invoice for the treatment must accompany the application. If the client/ patient cannot afford an initial diagnostic visit, please email Cathy Harris at coordinator@womensfundeldorado.org or call her at 530.306.1857
Applications are processed by the Lighthouse Committee within 48 hours.

We are now accepting applications for the 2025 Women’s Fund El Dorado’s (WFED) Wickline Scholarship. Since 2012, WFED has awarded over $73,500 Wickline Scholarship dollars, making a difference in the lives of 46 local women.
The Wickline Scholarship was established to assist women 22 years of age and older, who reside on the western slope of El Dorado County and are furthering their careers by pursuing a post-secondary education. The Wickline Scholarship is an award of up to $2,000 distributed annually to one or more recipients. Funds are awarded directly to the school. Applications are scored by financial need, personal history and completeness of application.
A legacy gift from Marian Wickline in 2009 as well as a generous gift from US Bank provides the opportunity to offer this scholarship. WFED manages the Wickline Scholarship and no member dollars go towards the fund, to donate directly email
